TAMPA, Fla. – New Mexico United’s Kevaughn Frater has been voted the USL Championship player of the week for Week 11 of the 2019 United Soccer League Championship Division season.
Frater, a 6-foot, 174-pound forward from Portmore, Jamaica, recorded his second hat trick of the season as United (5-1-6) won 3-1 at Colorado Springs on Saturday and moved into sole possession of first place in the Western Conference. United has 21 points; Portland Timbers 2, which was idle last week, has 18.
Frater received 47 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL Championship market. Hartford Athletic’s Jose Angulo finished second with 37 percent after his two-goal performance led the side to its first league victory.
Frater, also the league’s player of the month of April, has 10 goals in 11 appearances for United. However, he also picked up his fifth yellow card of the season last week and must sit out United’s next match, which is Saturday at Austin.
United’s next home date is June 5 vs. the OKC Energy.
