Shallenberger is 1-5A’s Player of the Year

RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Only two members of the Class 5A runner-up Cleveland High baseball team earned All-District first-team honors: Shortstop Treston Shallenberger, named the district’s Player of the Year, plus first baseman/pitcher Jaren Jackson. CHS second baseman Damien Roddy, catcher Isaac Toledo, pitcher/outfielder Christian Hoffman and pitcher Jeffery Brumfield were second-team All-District selections. Center fielder Roy Jennings earned honorable mention.

Nine Rams in all earned postseason recognition. Named to the 1-5A All-District first team were third baseman Noah Brewer, catcher Clayton Kempski, outfielder Ethan Silcox and pitcher Andrew Duran. Shortstop Jacob Braunschweiger and outfielder Kevin Pietrzak made the second team. Pitchers Justin Baron, Alec Stanfield and Hudson White earned honorable mention.

There were familiar names from the city’s teams when the Albuquerque Journal released its All-Metro teams.

From RRHS, Kempski, Brewer and Silcox were on the first team, while Shallenberger, Roddy and Hoffman made it from CHS.

On the All-Metro second team were the Storm’s Brumfield and Jackson (at first base).

All-State selections have yet to be announced.
