Take Dad out for some good music, food and fun during Father’s Day in Old Town.

The celebration on Sunday, June 16, will have something everyone in the family can enjoy, including face painting and climbing a rock wall provided by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. Guests may even add to their families after visiting adoptable pets from Albuquerque’s Animal Welfare.

“Bring the entire family to enjoy free kids’ activities, shopping with local merchants, restaurants and food trucks, or visit the mobile pet adoptions van and take home your new four-legged family member,” said Bree Ortiz, events and operations manager for the city of Albuquerque.

Some shops around Old Town will have tables set up around the gazebo so visitors can enjoy the live entertainment while shopping.

Attendees can enjoy blues by the Todd Tijerina Band from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Cuba Son music by Luna Llena from 3 to 5 p.m. at the gazebo in the Old Town Plaza.

“Father’s Day in Old Town is one of the most popular concerts in the Plaza,” Ortiz said. “It is a perfect time to celebrate your dad in Old Town.”

Father’s Day in Old Town is part of the Summertime in Old Town concert series presented by the city of Albuquerque’s Cultural Services Department. Concerts feature a variety of bands that perform various genres, including Latin, country, reggae, New Mexico music, jazz and flamenco. The live music performances are held Fridays through Sundays at the gazebo. The concert series runs through July 28.
