Former Los Lunas High and University of Michigan running back O’maury Samuels created a stir this week with a Twitter post suggesting he’ll soon join the Aggies. His Thursday post read, “Man can’t wait to get down to Cruces meet some of my new teammates.” The profile photo on Samuels’ account shows him holding a football and sporting an NMSU jersey and helmet.

Nothing is official yet, however. An NMSU spokesman said Samuels is not enrolled in classes this summer and NCAA rules prohibit coaches from commenting on student-athletes who are not officially part of their programs.
Samuels was a four-star recruit out of Los Lunas. He played sparingly in two seasons at Michigan (13 carries for 66 yards in 2018) and was dismissed from the team in December after being charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and malicious destruction of property.
The domestic violence charge was dismissed in February in exchange for a guilty plea to one misdemeanor count of malicious destruction of property under $200, the Detroit Free Press then reported.
Shortly thereafter, Samuels announced his intention to transfer via Twitter.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Samuels rushed for more than 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns during his prep career.
