Scott Gates of Albuquerque and Donald Yrene of The Canyon Club won the Sun Country PGA Pro-Pro Team Championship at Sandia Golf Club on Tuesday.
The tournament was a 36-hole event with a team format of four-ball.
Gates and Yrene scored 14-under-par 130 (67-63) to win by two strokes and took home $1,250. Bill Harvey, the head pro at Ladera, and Javier Delgadillo of Horizon Golf Club finished second. The team of Kevin Keller of New Mexico State Golf Course and Thomas McMullan of Cruces Total Golf came in third.

Texans win junior qualifiers at UNM
Jacob Sosa of Austin, Texas, won the USGA Boys Junior Amateur qualifier and Melena Barrientos of Plano, Texas, won the Girls Junior Championship qualifier at UNM Championship Golf Course on Tuesday.
Tyler Diehl of Farmington finished as the first alternate after shooting 3-under-par 69, two strokes behind Sosa, who qualified to play in the USGA Boys Junior Amateur at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio, July 15-20.
Barrientos will play in the UGA Girls Junior Championship at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wis., July 22-27.
City tourney begins July 5
The 78th annual Albuquerque Men’s City Golf Championships will take place July 5-7 at Ladera, Arroyo del Oso and Los Altos golf courses, respectively. The entry fee is $180, which includes greens fees, cart, range balls, lunch and prizes. Annual pass holders for the city golf courses receive a $50 discount.
