Fun on the Fourth: New Mexicans have plenty of options for celebrating Independence Day

There are plenty of options if you are looking for a place to commemorate the Fourth of July. Here are a few events happening around New Mexico.

Red, White and Balloons: The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum Foundation is hosting the event on July 4 at the museum, 9201 Balloon Museum Drive NE, in Albuquerque. Doors open at 5 p.m. Guests will have access to premium parking. Food trucks will be on-site and a buffet will be provided by The Cooperage. Lawn admission is $10 for ages 12 and older, and the Stars & Stripes Dinner Package is $35. Live music by Albuquerque Concert Band and Claudio Tolousse and a balloon GLOW from Rainbow Ryders Inc. Fourth of July Parade: Join the city of Rio Rancho in celebrating Independence Day with a parade featuring floats, marching bands, children’s groups, veteran groups, and more. Watch the parade and listen to music honoring our country. The parade begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, at 3200 Civic Center Circle NE, in Rio Rancho. Free admission. Rio Rancho’s Fourth of July Extravaganza: Take the whole family for some summer fun and fireworks at Loma Colorado Park, 735 Loma Colorado Drive NE, in Rio Rancho. Listen to live music beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 4, and see a fireworks display at 9 p.m. Food vendors will be on-site. Blankets and coolers are allowed. Glass and alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Free admission. For information, call 892-4499.

Corrales Fourth of July Parade and Family Fun Day: Commemorate our freedom in Corrales. The village parade starts at 10 a.m. at Target Road and proceeds south through downtown Corrales to La Entrada Road. Local clubs including CHAMP (Corrales Horse and Mule People), Corrales Tractor Club, Boy Scouts, and others are participating. Following the parade, head to Family Fun Day at La Entrada Park, 84 W La Entrada. The Corrales Fire Department and Boy Scouts will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs. Jemez Springs Independence Day Celebration: Celebrate our freedom and those who gave their lives to protect those freedoms with Jemez Springs’ Fourth of July event. It will feature a parade, fireworks, arts and crafts vendors, live music, a duck race and more from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 4. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Jemez Community Park, 80 Jemez Springs Plz, in Jemez Springs. Free admission. For information, visit jemezsprings.org.

Village of Los Lunas Fourth of July Celebration: Independence Day will be celebrated with a parade, music and fireworks in Los Lunas. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. along Main Street. Live entertainment begins at 4 p.m. at Daniel Fernandez Park, 1103 N.M. 314, in Los Lunas. Performers include the Nathaniel Krantz Band, Nosotros, The Gershom Brothers, and the Black Pearl Band of New Mexico. The fireworks show starts at dusk. The Town of Bernalillo Mayor’s Benefit Splash & Bash: Rotary Park will be the site of an all-out splashfest from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 4. The event will feature water gun, water balloon and water slide fun for all ages at the park, 370 Rotary Park Road. Hot dogs, hamburgers and other refreshments will be provided from 1 to 3 p.m. Eventgoers can enjoy live music from 3 to 6 p.m. Donations for the town’s annual school supply drive and winter coat drive will be accepted. The 2019 Santa Fe Fourth of July Celebration: You’re invited to Santa Fe’s commemoration of Independence Day from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at Santa Fe Place Mall, 4250 Cerrillos Road. The entertainment lineup will feature Dream Noise at 6 p.m., Sol Fire at 7 p.m., and Fun Adixx at 8 p.m. The fireworks display begins at 9 p.m. A variety of food trucks and vendors will be on-site. The Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe will be introduce the official 2019 Zozobra T-shirt and poster artists. Be the first to purchase 2019 Zozobra merchandise and tickets. Free admission.
