SANTA FE — Two state lawmakers — House Speaker Brian Egolf and Rep. Kelly Fajardo — won national recognition this week.
Egolf, D-Santa Fe, was selected for the Aspen Institute’s Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership, making him one of 24 “rising political stars” across the country who will participate in a two-year program designed to promote problem-solving. The participants are chosen based on their leadership qualities and ability to work across party lines.
Fajardo, R-Belen, was picked to serve on the legislator nominating committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures. She is one of 12 members who will help shape the organization’s operations by helping to fill positions on its executive committee and choose its leaders.
The bipartisan conference is dedicated to improving the operation of state legislatures by sharing research and best practices.
