Tree falls on vehicle traveling on Montaño Road

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An uprooted tree fell on a vehicle on Montaño Road near the river Saturday, forcing a man to be extricated by firefighters.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue said the incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on the south side of Montaño near Rio Grande as the vehicle was headed east.

The tree “struck the hood of vehicle and went into the windshield,” AFR Lt. Tim Smith said by email.

After being extricated, the man — the only occupant in the vehicle — was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital and was reported in stable condition.
