Man found dead on roadway may have been shot in head

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who was found overnight on the road at San Mateo and Marble with a possible gunshot wound to the head.

Sgt. Tanner Tixier, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, said officers were dispatched to the area after a passerby encountered the man on the roadway and reported that he had possibly been shot.

“Officers arrived on scene and discovered one male subject with trauma to the head, not breathing and unconscious,” Tixier said. “AFR was immediately requested to the scene and the subject was pronounced deceased on scene.”

He said a homicide callout was initiated and that detectives have interviewed the deceased man’s brother, who witnessed the incident.

Tixier said no person of interest has been identified.

“Criminalistics are on scene processing the business parking lot and scene,” Tixier said.

It was a busy night for APD. Earlier in the night police were dispatched to Wilson Park in southeast Albuquerque in reference to a separate shooting that left another man dead.
