ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A 69-year-old man is dead after he failed to yield to a Chevrolet as he drove his ATV through a Hidalgo County intersection Friday morning, according to New Mexico State Police.
In a news release Sunday, Officer Ray Wilson wrote that Jose Vega was driving his ATV west on Ponderosa Road close to Alada Road, north of Animas.
“For unknown reasons, the ATV failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a 2013 Chevy that was traveling north on Alada Road,” Wilson wrote.
Vega suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The crash remains under investigation.
