ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man is behind bars in connection to a shooting in late June that left one man dead and another injured at a house party in Southeast Albuquerque.
Julian Lerma, 18, faces a charge of murder in a June 30 shooting that took the life of 20-year-old Erasmo Munoz-Saucedo and injured Edwin Parra. Lerma was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center late Friday night.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court, officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Alamo, near Gibson and University on June 30, around 1 a.m.
Within minutes, police say a second call came in of a car crash at Yale and Central SE where they found Parra and Munoz-Saucedo injured. Both men were taken to University of New Mexico Hospital where Munoz-Saucedo was pronounced dead and Parra went into surgery.
According to the complaint witnesses at the house party told police they were playing beer pong inside the house around 1 a.m. when Lerma walked into the kitchen, pulled out a gun, and fired several shots, hitting Munoz-Saucedo and Parra.
After the shooting, police say some party goers tried to drive Munoz-Saucedo and Parra to the hospital when they lost control of the car and crashed.
According to the complaint three witnesses who were at the party identified Lerma as the shooter.
