Aggie women’s golf adds Baylor transfer

LAS CRUCES  – Rising sophomore Amelia McKee, a native of Spring, Texas, has joined the Aggie women’s golf program as a transfer from Baylor, New Mexico State head coach Danny Bowen announced Wednesday.

“I’m very excited to bring Amelia to NM State,” Bowen said in a statement from New Mexico State. “She had an awesome high-school career and showed lots of potential in her freshman season at Baylor. Not only will she bring immediate depth to the team, but Amelia also has a team-first mentality and the kind of character we look for as a member of the Aggies!”

McKee played in four tournaments during her freshman season at Baylor, recording a 75.17 stroke average. She shot a personal-best round of three-under 69 at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, the first tournament of her collegiate career. She closed out her year with a career-best 72-74-77—223 (+7) at the Bruzzy Challenge.

McKee originally joined Baylor from Klein Oak High School, where she earned Class 6A All-State recognition twice.

NM State opens the 2019-20 season Sept. 9-10 with the Hoble Creek Fall Classic at Hobble Creek Golf Course in Springville, Utah.
