United faces Saturday rematch with Galaxy 2

New Mexico United and LA Galaxy 2 are nearly even in the standings, and they were dead even in their first meeting on June 22. The rematch Saturday night at Isotopes Park (7:30 p.m., ESPN+, 101.7 FM) figures to be as tightly contested.

United (8-6-9) is sixth in the United Soccer League Western Conference standings. Galaxy 2 (8-8-8) is eighth. In Carson, Calif., in June, United controlled possession and had eight shots on goal. Just one, Kevaughn Frater’s 40th-minute strike, converted.

Galaxy 2 is 3-1 under interim head coach Junior Gonzales.

United will be minus captain Josh Suggs, who is suspended due to yellow card accumulation, and right back Manny Padilla, who took two yellows in United’s last match.
