Sports Speak Up! On Zeke Elliott’s holdout, local sports gambling

I SEE WHERE Zeke Elliott feels he has been disrespected by Jerry Jones joke about him. I was taught that you had to earn respect. His history of suspensions and being called into New York to discuss another episode of misbehavior does not deserve respect. He needs to be on the field to help the team.

WE ALL KNOW that professional sports is a big business. It is all about money and winning. But what about honesty and integrity? What does a signature on a contract mean? I wish, just once, an owner or general manager would hold up a contract of an athlete holding out and point to the athlete’s signature and say, “this signature means I will report to work based on the terms of the contract.” It will never happen!

KUDOS TO THE NFL owners for permanently benching Kap from playing. His deliberately exaggerated comments about so called racial oppression were getting old. If he wants to play so badly, let the dude go to the CFL, XFL or Rancho Cucumonga, i.e. wherever and he can take his cute pink socks with him.

RE: GEOFF GRAMMER’S article ” Wagering on Lobos, Aggies is a good bet.” The question is, “For Whom?” Point shaving at the college level has occurred at Boston College, ASU, Northwestern, Kentucky, Tulane and attempted at Cal State Fullerton. Past history? Don’t bet on it. What you can bet on is the added concern of the vulnerability and susceptlbility. That has now been placed on the athletes of these two universities. It may be a “good bet” for the money making machines at the Isleta Casino but a nightmare for athletic departments at UNM and NMSU.

ATTENTION ALL GOLFERS who play at the local public courses: The pitch mark fairy is on maternity leave, and the divot replacement fairy is on medical leave. I guess it’s up to the rest of us to chip in and display proper etiquette and leave the course in better shape than we found it. That way everyone benefits. Including you. Thanks and have fun.
