Police investigating death of Taos coffee shop owner as homicide

SANTA FE — State Police has launched a homicide investigation after the body of a Ranchos de Taos resident was found near his home.

Patrick Larkin, 63 – owner of World Cup Cafe, one of Taos oldest coffee shops – was reported missing after he left his home on Cuchilla Road at about 2 a.m. Tuesday to check on his goats and did not return, according to a State Police press release. The Taos County Sheriff’s Office and State Police began searching for Larkin.

Around noon Wednesday Larkin’s body was found about a mile from his home, the release states. An autopsy is pending.

“New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is actively working this case and believes it to be the result of a homicide,” the release says.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call State Police at 505-753-2277.
