ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Detectives are investigating after they say a man was shot and killed inside a northwest Albuquerque apartment Monday evening.

Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque police spokesman, said no suspects are in custody but police are looking for a friend of the victim. He did not identify the man who had been shot.

Gallegos said officers responded to the 1700 block of Indian School NW, near 12th and Menaul, and found a man shot to death in the upstairs bedroom of an apartment.

He said others in the apartment at the time said the victim was with a friend when the shooting occurred.

“The friend left the scene before officers arrived and has yet to be located,” Gallegos said. “His identity has yet to be confirmed.”

He did not say what time the shooting occurred or give any other details.
