Homicide victim in Santa Fe ID’d; another homeless death reported

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Police Department has identified the man found dead under a bridge at Guadalupe Street and Alameda Street as 37-year-old Aaron Chapman.

In a separate case, the police confirmed Tuesday that a 37-year-old woman, like Chapman believed to have been homeless, was found dead in a known homeless camp near the 2400 block of Cerrillos Road Monday afternoon. Police don’t believe foul play was involved, but an autopsy is pending.

Sunday morning, officers started a homicide investigation after finding Chapman dead with “obvious” signs of blunt force trauma near the De Vargas skate park.

On Monday police released heavily redacted reports from officers who responded to the scene, but no details about Chapman’s injuries could be gleaned from the documents.

No suspects have been arrested and SFPD spokesman Greg Gurule said there was no new information Tuesday.
