The Wine and Chile Fiesta runs through the week.

The annual gourmet blowout known as the Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta kicks off Sunday with a 5 p.m. reception featuring wine and food, followed by a screening of the wine-world documentary “Somm 3” at the Violet Crown Cinema. Cost is $30.

But the real action is later in the week, with numerous events leading up to the Grand Tasting from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Santa Fe Opera, which will feature food from 75 Santa Fe restaurants and sips from 100 wineries.

Starting Wednesday, there will be chef demos, tastings, luncheons and seminars at various locations around town, with tickets for events going for $85 and up. There are also special winery dinners at numerous local eateries Wednesday-Friday. The culinary action continues through a final brunch on Sept. 29, a day on which you can also try to burn off some of the calorie gain with bike rides of up to 75 miles or by participating in a golf classic. Tickets for the Saturday Grand Tasting are $195. Free continuous shuttle rides start at 11:30 a.m. from the PERA Building at Paseo de Peralta and Old Santa Fe Trail, or you can buy an Opera parking pass for $30.

COMIC SUCCESS: Santa Fe artist Skylar Patridge will be previewing an exclusive cover for “Relics of Youth #1,” a comic she’s illustrating for Vault Comics, at Big Adventure Comics this week.

Characters from the “Relics of Youth #1” comic.

” ‘Relics of Youth’ is an ensemble adventure story,” Patridge said. “It’s full of exotic locales, mysterious characters and exciting discoveries. It’s been an amazing challenge to help create these characters and the world they inhabit.”

On its site, Vault describes the story as about a group of teens from around the globe, linked by dreams of an unknown paradise and matching tattoos that mysteriously appear.

“We’re so pleased to have a member of our community finding success in the comics industry,” said Kevin Drennan, owner of Big Adventure Comics in an announcement. “Please join us to celebrate Skylar’s achievement.”

The store, at 418 Montezuma Ave., Suite C, in the Jean Cocteau Building, will host a signing for the release of “Relics of Youth #1” at the shop on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 5-7 p.m., with a reception at Violet Crown Cinema to follow. The exclusive cover, available only from Big Adventure, is available for pre-order and will be for sale at the signing.
