B2B2 Barrio Uptown is saving you trips around town in search of your favorite Oktoberfest beers.

The second annual Uptown Oktoberfest Fiesta today, Oct. 2, will feature local Oktoberfest brews on tap from Boxing Bear Brewing Co., Canteen Brewhouse, Enchanted Circle Brewing Co., Nexus Brewery, Quarter Celtic Brewpub, Santa Fe Brewing Co., and Steel Bender Brewyard. The 2019 People’s Choice Oktoberfest Brew competition, Bavarian tacos as well as a German folk attire contest with prizes for the winners will be part of the festivities.

The event is a unique opportunity to try many local Oktoberfest craft brews in one place and is a celebration of New Mexico Oktoberfest craft beer and brewers, according to a B2B2 Barrio Uptown news release.

Local breweries usually brew small batches of Bavarian style beers that are available for a few weeks each year. The beers are brewed in limited quantity with special attention paid to the tradition and ingredients of Oktoberfest beers, according to the news release.

Members of the Edelweiss Rio Grande German American Club will be in attendance in full German folk attire. The attire traditionally consists of lederhosen or leather shorts for men and dirndls for women. Eventgoers are also encouraged to come in traditional attire for a chance at prizes. Anyone wearing German folk attire will receive a discount.

Oktoberfest is a German tradition that is more than 200 years old. It is one of the largest folk festivals in the world. The festival celebrates Bavarian culture with food, beer, music and dress, according to the news release.
