Deepak Chopra to make a stop in Santa Fe

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — When it comes to writing, Deepak Chopra is always thinking about the next chapter.

His latest book, “Metahuman – Unleashing Your Infinite Potential,” is a continuation of his life’s work.

“I write books that build up on a previous book,” he says. “The last one was ‘We Are the Universe.’ This one took me about two years to complete.”

Chopra will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center. It is presented by Collected Works Bookstore.

Chopra’s latest book delves into the secrets on moving beyond the present limitations to access a field of infinite possibilities.

The book guides readers on the journey taken to accomplish it.

“My initial phase for this book was that I let loose my stream of consciousness,” he says. “For six months, I write without editing. Then I take time to look back at the notes. It’s a process. And the biggest obstacle is actually people. We have no idea of what the universe is made of. Most people think reality is what they see. That’s not the case. That’s why I go into metahuman.”

Chopra began writing in 1985, and “Metahuman” is his 90th book.

“A lot of my readers have grown up with me,” he says. “My readers are familiar with my writing, and they want more. What I’m writing about can change someone’s life. I want to help give more insight to life. When I get on stage to speak to an audience, I feel very energized, because I’m sharing my passion with everybody.”

Chopra tries to visit Santa Fe as often as he can because he feels the city has a strong soul.

“There are certain cities that have more of a soul than others,” Chopra says. “Santa Fe is a perfect example of that. It’s an artist paradise; therefore, the soul continues to thrive. I love places like that. There’s a lot of culture, and multiple cultures have made it what it is.”
