ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An educational program from New Mexico PBS and KNME-TV brought home a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award this year.
Franz Joachim of NMPBS, Miles O’Brien, director of the PBS news hour and NOVA, and Penelope Penland of the Santa Fe Symphony were presented with the award for The Majesty of Music and Math at a ceremony in Phoenix on Sept. 22.
The award-winning show is a “multi-media television production exploring an inspiring symphony of the interconnectedness of music and mathematics,” according to a news release from NMPBS.
The Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Fe Institute joined NMPBS in a “revolutionary partnership” to produce the one-hour special.
Joachim, general manager and NMPBS CEO, said the show embodies the best of New Mexico.
“This program was a group effort and would not have been possible without the talent, hard work and dedication of many people,” he said. “We are pleased that this work is being recognized and congratulate everyone whose work shone through in this production.”
