THERE REALLY IS no answer for UNM regarding Lobo football. UNM needs to field a team to keep the revenue flowing with Mountain West Conference money that helps to fund all sports. Bob Davie has ‘zero’ concern about his job security because he makes about $800,000 per year and has a contract that runs through 2021. An inexperienced assistant interim coach won’t do any better. It usually takes a new coach at least three seasons to rebuild. As the losses continue to pile up, all Lobo fans can do is stand in-place as a group of defenseless punching bags.

UNM FOOTBALL will finish the season, 2-10. Why not consider hiring a well regarded NM high school football coach? Offer him triple his salary, which should still be half as much as is currently being paid out by UNM. All we ever hear is a how hard it is to win football games at UNM. So be fiscally responsible and create some early buzz by giving a local guy a shot. At 2-10, what does the institution have to lose?
AS THE NATIONALS sweep St. Louis and head to the World Series, the chant should be, “Who the heck was Bryce Harper anyway?”
