Women’s golf: Lobos last in Bahamas; Aggies 8th in Vegas

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Consistency isn’t the friend of the University of New Mexico women’s golf team.

The Lobos shot 12-over-par 300 as a team in each of the first two rounds of the White Sands Invitational, which left them last of 14 teams in the field after one round and last again after Tuesday’s second round. Texas is the runaway leader by 18 strokes. at 22-under 554.

Caroline Jansson is the top Lobo, tied for 22nd with a 2-over 146. The third and final round is Wednesday. Click here for team, individual results.

NMSU: In Las Vegas, Nev., the Aggies finished eighth in the 18-team Las Vegas Collegiate showdown won by host UNLV (15-over 879). NMSU shot 40-over (308-300-296) 904. Click here for final team results.

Aggie senior Pun Chanachai finished 7-over 223, tied for 17th; Rio Rancho senior Dominique Gallway was 28th (10-over 226). The tournament concludeed NMSU’s fall season.
