‘Better Call Saul’ 5th season starts in February

That’s the date set by AMC for the premiere of the fifth season of “Better Call Saul.”

The second episode will air Feb. 24.

Production for the fifth season began in April in Albuquerque.

“Better Call Saul” is a “Breaking Bad” prequel, focusing on the evolution of Saul Goodman before he became Walter White’s lawyer. The series has been nominated for dozens of Emmy Awards over its four-season run. In the fourth season, it averaged around 1.5 million viewers.

“Better Call Saul” is executive-produced by Peter Gould, Vince Gilligan, Mark Johnson, Melissa Bernstein and Thomas Schnauz.

A Sony Pictures Television production, created by Gilligan and Gould, the series stars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando and Giancarlo Esposito.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, the production employed about 375 New Mexico crew members, 200 New Mexico actors and 500 New Mexico background talent workers.
