Man struck, killed while walking away from crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man was struck by a car and killed after police say he tried to leave the scene of a crash in Northeast Albuquerque Monday evening.

Daren DeAgeuro, a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department, said officers were dispatched to a crash at Menaul and Carlise around 6:20 p.m.

“One of the drivers involved in the accident decided to leave the area and walk west bound on Menaul. As he was doing so, he walked into the street and was struck by a vehicle,” he said.

The man was taken to UNM Hospital, where he died. DeAguero did not give any other information identifying the man.

Westbound Menaul from Carlisle is closed while police investigate.
