Felix Romero, who escaped from the San Miguel County jail Saturday, turned himself in at the New Mexico State Police office in Las Vegas, New Mexico, about 11 a.m. Monday.
Romero was booked back into the jail on new charges of felony escape and criminal damage to property, a petty misdemeanor, according to a State Police news release.

On Saturday, Romero, 22, of Las Vegas broke a window in the jail’s reintegration building and walked away.
Romero had bee in jail on a bench warrant for failure to appear and a probation violation. The State Police said he has a criminal history that includes charges of trafficking a controlled substance, battery on a peace officer, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and criminal damage to property.
