Sports Speak Up! Thoughts on Davie’s buyout abound

BOB DAVIE is finished with New Mexico and headed back to Arizona. Ironically, his nightmare is every New Mexico golfer’s dream—$27,500 for 30 consecutive months. So much golf to be played in Arizona (in the winter) and such little time.

THE YANKEES just signed pitcher Gerrit Cole for more money than the California Angels/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim paid for their entire property and stadium! I’ve been to Angels Stadium many times and it is in the space where two freeways merge but still. BTW the only time a fight broke out in (the) stadium was during the Los Angeles Raiders-Los Angeles Rams NFL exhibition game. The original minor league baseball team, Los Angeles Angels, played at Wrigley Field in South Central Los Angeles.

RECRUITMENT OF athletes and coaches should be similar to buying a vehicle or home. The buyers go out and find the best fit, or does everyone hire a private consulting firm to find their needs?.. The AD (Nunez) and other top UNM staff members should earn their salary and get out there and find candidates for these positions. Have they ever heard of social media? The personal approach enables one to get a good feel for the candidates’ qualities. …
