ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — With open enrollment for health insurance in New Mexico ending Sunday residents still looking to sign up and seeking assistance can attend Saturday’s “Be Covered – Albuquerque” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alamosa Community Center/Ted Gallegos Community Center, 6900 Gonzales SW.
As part of its ongoing campaign, Be Covered is holding a health and wellness fair in partnership with community organizations to engage residents about the importance of insurance coverage and to provide information on enrollment, officials said in a news release.
Nearly 200,000 people are uninsured in New Mexico, but more than 62% qualify for some kind of financial assistance, they said.
The Be Covered campaign provides statewide outreach and education about health insurance enrollment.
The community-based campaign is designed to help people who are uninsured and underinsured better understand the benefits of enrollment, identify their subsidy eligibility options and empower them to make informed health care decisions.
The campaign is an education initiative sponsored by BCBSNM that works with community partners to provide educational materials and bilingual resources.
Information about this latest event and the open enrollment period can be found at BeCovered.org/NM.
The site is a user-friendly and bilingual. It provides a wide range of information about health insurance, wellness and how to enroll.
