Sandoval County offers first-ever holiday-ride program

RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Sandoval County is collaborating with Cumulus Radio, the New Mexico Department of Transportation, Da Vita Medical Group and Uber to cover the first $10 of any county resident’s ride home during the holidays.

Listen to a Cumulus Media radio station through Jan. 2 for the Uber coupon code.

Each code is good for two rides per person, at $10 off per ride.

Sandoval County Commissioner Kenneth Eichwald, who used $10,000 of his District 5 funds to facilitate this first-time holiday ride program, said drinking and driving can be a cause of grief for family members celebrating Christmas and New Year’s.

“This type of program makes our holidays safer for everyone,” Eichwald said. “Drinking and driving during this time of season is dangerous, so to combat that, this program has been set in place to get people home safely.”
