THANKS TO the Journal for taking the media lead in getting information to the public regarding the various circumstances with UNM’s student athletes.
Some Sports Speak Up! writers go through life wearing blinders, content with remaining in their bubbles.
Many of us are also avid UNM fans but refuse to be spoon-fed by the new administrators. UNM could address the matters in some form instead of going into complete non-communication mode. Is it a wise move to risk further erosion of a fan base that they are desperately attempting to reclaim?
Apparently they’re willing to roll the dice.

CONGRATULATIONS TO everyone recognized by Yodice’s prep decade in review. Not sure and don’t care about the reason for omission, but shout out to Ronnie Daniels for breaking every NM prep football record relevant to running backs in 2010.
THE NEW Mexico Bowl is one of the few times this city and this state are in the national spotlight in a positive manner, yet, the sports community here has shunned the game as if a virus broke out at UNM football stadium. Sure, it’s not LSU vs. Clemson, but it is still our opportunity to show the country that we are not all about car theft and DUI.
Time for the NM Bowl committee to realize that this town will never support this game, and fold up shop. Sad.

I’M JOINING Stephen A. in congratulating the average Dallas Cowboys and their average fans on another average season!

COACH WEIR, please rein in your players. I don’t recall a Lobo Basketball team that was involved in the number of altercations and taunting incidents that this year’s team has had. The number of technicals is unacceptable and one day it’s going to cost you a win. We need to win or lose with class.
While you’re at it, remind JaQuan Lyle that he’s a captain and needs to start acting like one.
