ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Music Awards, celebrating its 33rd year of recognizing excellence in recorded music in the state, is now accepting entries for the 2020 program for music produced during the 2019 calendar year.
Entries will be accepted from now until Feb. 8.
The program is open to amateur and professional songwriters, artists, producers, engineers and other music industry professionals throughout New Mexico, organizers said in a news release.
The NMMA also honors someone from the New Mexico Music community with the Eric Larson Lifetime Achievement Award.
Past recipients include master luthier Lorenzo Pimentel, vocalist Hillary Smith, The Wickham Brothers Trio, jazz legends Arlen Asher and Michael Anthony and longtime music awards MC Tom Rutherford, according to a news release.
The NMMA also maintains the Eric Larson Endowment at the University of New Mexico, presents educational workshops along with a number of veteran support programs.
The annual awards show and banquet is May 17 at Sandia Resort and Casino.
