ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — They will share in more than $11 million in federal stimulus money
The Mescalero Apache tribe and five pueblos in New Mexico will share in more than $11 million in federal stimulus money being given as grant funding to improve housing, according to a news release from the state’s two U.S. senators.
Sens. Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall, both Democrats, said in the news release Tuesday that the funding comes through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
According to the news release, Isleta Pueblo and Ohkay Owingeh will get $2 million each; Zuni Pueblo and the Mescalero Apache Housing Authority will get $3 million each; the Laguna Housing Development & Management Enterprise will get $600,000; and Taos Pueblo Housing will get $579,788.
