United to play intrasquad scrimmage

No Switchbacks? No problem.

Due to weather, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC is unable to travel to the UNM Soccer Complex on Saturday to play in a friendly against the New Mexico United, and instead the United will play an intrasquad scrimmage at noon.

The New Mexico United will split up its roster of 22 players for action in a Somos Team vs. Unidos Team scrimmage.

A charity shootout is planned following the scrimmage, with $750 being donated to the winning team’s charity and $250 to the other. Watermelon Mountain Ranch and Cuidando Los NiƱos charities will be in the running.

The United added midfielder Andrew Tinari to its roster on Friday, pending league and federation approval. He is the 22nd rostered player for the United.

Tinari spent last season with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, making 22 appearances, 18 starts, 5 goals and 5 assists.
