ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police and firefighters pulled a dead man from the Rio Grande river on Friday afternoon near the South Valley.

Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, said officers were called out sometime before 2:30 p.m. just south of Bridge SW, after the body was spotted.

He said there are no signs of foul play at this time.

Daren DeAguero, another APD spokesman, later said the man may have been reported missing earlier by relatives.

“We will not know the exact identity of the individual until (Office of the Medical Investigator) completes their investigation,” DeAguero said.

A hovercraft could be seen plucking the body from the river around 3 p.m. before speeding down the river.
