APD investigating homicide in NE Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found dead inside his vehicle in Northeast Albuquerque early Thursday morning.

Officers found the victim at about 3:15 a.m. while responding to a shooting incident on the 1800 block of Hoffman NE, near Indian School and Pennsylvania, according to the Albuquerque Police Department.

“Officers arrived on scene and located a male slumped at the wheel with signs of trauma,” APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said in an email. “(Albuquerque Fire Rescue) was immediately requested to the scene and determined the male was deceased.”

Gallegos said detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and are interviewing nearby residents.

“Victim identification is unknown at this time and pending and will be completed by (the Office of the Medical Investigator),” he added.
