ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police have arrested a second suspect in a shooting that killed one and injured three others in a home east of Downtown two weeks ago.

Nathaniel Hernandez, 18, was arrested Monday, according to a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department. He is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, three counts of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated burglary.

Hernandez had not yet been booked into the county jail Monday night, according to online records.

Anthony Lopez (MDC)

Hernandez’s arrest comes six days after 19-year-old Anthony “AJ” Lopez was arrested on the same charges. Police say the two shot and killed Jeff Baca in a home on the 600 block of Arno SE, near Broadway and Coal SE, after a dispute at a gathering over music on March 14.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court, witnesses told detectives Lopez got into a fight with a woman “over the music that was being played in the house at the time.”

They said Lopez left and returned with five others, including a man who went by “Reckless,” and the group opened fire. Three women were struck, including a 16-year-old who was shot in the eye, and a 17-year-old who was shot in the head, chest and arm.

Baca was also shot and died at the scene.
