Sports Speak Up! What can we say? Readers are restless

VANCE JACKSON is transferring to Arkansas. Paul Weir didn’t use him in the proper manner, anyway. At 6-foot-9, he could have been a force inside but he ended up being an inconsistent 3-point shooter. Defensively, he should have been more of a rebounder. Weir has one more season to bring some players in who want to play ball and get the Pit rocking again. 20-30 plus point blowouts at home or on the road won’t be acceptable.

MARCH MADNESS BLUES: Springtime I schedule my whole life around March. High school basketball tourney and March Madness. ESPN showing old NCAA tourney games. There have been too many great winning memories to list, but three of my biggest disappointing losses in tourney history are: 1) New Mexico’s loss to Bradley 1964 NIT final. 2) Indiana State’s loss to Michigan State 1979 NCAA final and 3) Utah’s loss to Kentucky 1998 NCAA final A Utah win would have been a victory for the entire conference, not to mention the Lobos beat the Utes earlier that year.
