APD officers cleared of COVID-19

Dozens of Albuquerque police officers have tested negative for COVID-19 after coming in contact with a federal officer who had the virus.

Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque police spokesman, said the 39 officers and two civilian employees do not have COVID-19 after they were all placed in quarantine last week.

He said once their vehicles are decontaminated the officers will be back on duty.

On Friday Gallegos said the officers and employees experienced “different levels of exposure” over several days, which included a multi-agency operation.
