North Sports: Week in Review

SIGNING: Santa Fe tight end/defensive end Trent Jones signed with Western New Mexico, despite playing only four full games his senior season, catching six passes for 98 yards. He also had two tackles for losses and a sack.

SIGNEE: Los Alamos High School senior swimmer Ian Jaegers has signed to swim at Valparaiso University in Indiana. He is the Hilltoppers’ record-holder in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 53 seconds, earning the bronze at the state meet in February.

ALSO SIGNED: The New Mexico Highlands women’s basketball program added Fallon Velasquez of Class 2A state champion Mescalero Apache, where she averaged more than 15 points a game.

COMMITTED: Pojoaque Valley’s Michaela Martinez, also agreed to sign with the Cowgirls after scoring 14.4 points with 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in earning second-team All-State honors with the Elkettes.

COACH NEEDED: Santa Fe Indian School will begin interviews this week for its vacant girls soccer coach position.
