What is your opinion of the coronavirus response packages passed by Congress and signed by President Trump? Is there anything you would have done differently?

President Trump and his team have done a great job under exceedingly difficult times. In congress, I would have demanded all politicians and their staffs take major pay cuts. This would allow them to begin to feel the same pain they are inflicting on Americans workers.

What actions to restore the economy, if any, do you feel Congress should take once the outbreak has been contained?

Allow free enterprise to work without excessive government overreach and intervention. Congress needs to remove the payroll tax and give bigger tax breaks to small businesses and their employees.  Most importantly, do not allow the Democrats to use this opportunity to move us closer to a socialist state.

What is your position regarding climate change? What actions should Congress take, if any, regarding the environment?

We want clean water and air. To use the fear of climate change to ruin America’s economy is wrong. Who is going to force China, India, Russia or Japan to follow the Democrat’s Green New Deal, which will destroy our economy? We need to put Americans and our economy first.

What is your opinion on energy initiatives that have been introduced both on the federal and state level such as the Green New Deal and the New Mexico Energy Transition Act?

The New Mexico Energy Act is an example of liberal Democrats restricting affordable, efficient energy; thinking they are smarter than free markets. Demanding the use of alternative energy will exponentially raise our electric bills. Those of us who support individual liberty and freedom must stop the Green New Deal.

Fracking bans have been introduced in Congress by Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and presidential candidate Joe Biden indicated in a debate he would support a ban. Where do you stand on the issue?

Amazing that so many Democrat politicians want to see America fail! There is no evidence that fracking is environmentally dangerous. Fracking allowed America’s oil industry to become the world’s leading energy producer. Here in New Mexico, 35% of our state’s $7.6 billion budget comes from New Mexico oil producers.

What is your position on the leasing of federal land for oil, gas and mineral development? Do you agree with the removal of energy development in a 10-mile radius around Chaco archaeological sites? Are there other areas of the state that should be considered for similar treatment?

New Mexico receives $3.8 billion from oil revenue to fund state programs. We should not set arbitrary distances restricting farming, energy and public access use. A 10-mile radius is over 300 square miles. Oil and gas can be produced with minimal surface disturbance and drill pads are usually 200 square feet.

What are the most important actions Congress should take regarding people now living illegally in the U.S.? What about for those who want to come in?

Taxpayers pay over $300 billion a year on illegal aliens’ welfare. All 1.9 million criminal illegal aliens need to serve their time in prison and be deported immediately. If citizens of foreign countries wish to live in America, they must enter our country legally and abide by our immigration laws.

Do you believe the borders are secure enough? If not, what do you propose should be done to increase security?

Congress has done nothing to stop illegal aliens invading New Mexico. We must finish the wall now! Illegal aliens who cross our border must be arrested and charged with a felony. They are violating our laws. They must respect United States sovereignty. We need to protect our borders like other countries.

Do you favor a federal ban on the sale of military style semi-automatic rifles? If so, what would you do about the millions of such weapons now legally owned by American citizens? What other, if any, gun law reforms would you support?

Military style does not make semi-automatic rifles the same as military-grade weapons. This is just liberal terminology used to try and scare Americans. Nothing is scarier than the government coming for law-abiding American’s guns. “… the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Federal spending plays an important role in New Mexico’s economy. What should be done to increase other economic drivers here?

Congress can begin by stopping its over regulation of New Mexico businesses. When businesses thrive, so do good paying jobs for our children and grandchildren here in New Mexico. President Reagan said, “The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Congress passed the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement as a replacement for the North American Free Trade Agreement. Are there any other trade initiatives you’d like to see Congress pass if you’re elected?

Because of President Trump’s leadership, America is no longer being abused by foreign countries on trade. In just three years he has improved decades of bad trade deals. President Trump is putting America first when it comes to trade. When in Congress, I look forward to supporting the Trump foreign trade agreements.

Do you favor or oppose a national single payer health system?

The $34 trillion price tag for socialized medicine is wrong. A private health care system provides our citizens with better access to physicians and medical care and better treatment options. These same Democrats support requiring hard-working Americans to pay for free health care for 29 million illegal aliens.

Do you favor or oppose limits on late-term abortion, and do you believe tax dollars should or should not be used to fund abortions?

I oppose abortion and believe that life begins at conception. God’s word “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,” Jeremiah 1:5.  Life begins at conception and we must stand strong. The real question needed to be answered by Congresswoman Torres-small is when does life begin.

What should be done at the federal level to address the crisis of opioid addiction? Any other drugs?

Illegal aliens smuggling drugs into the United States have created a national crisis. They are destroying the lives of many of our children and grandchildren. The U.S. government estimates 90% of illegal drugs come through Mexico. Bringing any illegal drugs across our border should result in a minimum 20-year prison sentence.

Why do you want to be a member of Congress?

I stand with President Trump. I will never allow America to become a socialist country. I worry about America’s children and what kind of a nation we leave them. America needs to remain a country based on liberty, free enterprise, freedom of speech, religion and the right to bear arms.
