A contract extension will go before the governing board at 5 p.m. today at the Workforce Training Center, 5600 Eagle Rock NE.
Among the changes are an increase in her retention bonus, from 5 percent to 10 percent each year. Her current contract – approved last year – calls for a bonus of 5 percent of her base salary, with an increase of 1 percent each year for five years.
Winograd, who became president in 2007, makes a base salary of $212,180. She has worked at CNM since 1996.
According to the contract, she’ll also receive a one-time, 2 percent salary raise that could become recurring if CNM’s state funding isn’t cut by the end of the year, according to the contract. The 2 percent increase also will go to most CNM employees.
Winograd’s amended contract also calls for a two-month paid sabbatical, which Winograd could take after January 2014. Winograd has a three-year rolling contract.
♦ A retirement contribution of 10 percent of her salary each year, in addition to what CNM contributes to her retirement plan.
♦ A “pay for performance plan,” through which the governing board sets goals. If Winograd meets them, she will receive a bonus that has not been determined yet.
♦ A year’s worth of salary if Winograd is fired “without cause,” the definition of which would be determined by the board.
CNM governing board members have continually expressed support for Winograd and said last year they would like her to stay until at least 2017. Winograd last year declined a pay raise because the school could not offer one to other employees. CNM faculty and staff, including Winograd, went without a salary increase for four years as the school’s state funding was reduced by about 30 percent.
