Someone who works at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court in Downtown Albuquerque has contracted COVID-19.
Camille Baca, a courts spokeswoman, said the courthouse is not being shut down “at this time” and the areas where the employee worked have been “thoroughly disinfected.”
“The entire courthouse will undergo additional disinfection over the weekend,” she said. “The court will continue to monitor the situation and will take any necessary steps to further protect the health and safety of those who visit and work in the courthouse.”
Baca said the courthouse has implemented numerous measures to prevent spread since the pandemic hit, including temperature checks for visitors and staff, requiring masks inside the courthouse, holding remote hearings, limiting courtroom capacity and regular sanitation of work spaces.
