WE LOBO FANS need to take a knee in protest for the last 30 years of overall incompetence, failure and losing in the UNM Athletic Department. The department is simply another bloated state agency taking taxpayer and donor money for an organization that resides in the bush leagues of college sports.

WHILE BIKING on the Bosque Trail (recently), I had the distinct pleasure of meeting new Lobo football coach Danny Gonzalez and his lovely wife. They were jogging in the blazing bosque heat and could not have been nicer. You gotta love it when our coach walks it like he talks it, by working out himself. He probably even lifts weights with the team. Talk about instant credibility with your players! How many more Saturdays until we kick it off?

RECEIVED MY Lobo Club renewal packet in the mail the other day. Unfortunately, I will not be making any donations, buying any season tickets or going to any individual games of any sort until I can be assured that no member of any of the teams will engage in any kind of disrespectful behavior toward the glag of the United States during the playing of the national anthem. The ball, so to speak, is in Director Nuñez’s court and that of the various coaches and staff.

THOUGH IT WAS originally named University Arena, the name “the Pit” quickly caught on and was part of the reason the building was voted the 13th best venue to watch a sporting event in the 20th century by Sports Illustrated Magazine. The Pit was in the good company of Yankee Stadium, Augusta National Golf Course, Lambeau Field and St. Andrews Golf Course, among others…. None of these entities will ever add a name such as WisePies or Dreamstyle to their landmarks. Some facilities are too iconic for an advertising name change. Count the Pit among them.

OH BUBBA WALLACE. He’s such a “pathfinder” in NASCAR. … but the rest of the world needs to listen to this genius’ theories on running a business. In reality, he’s lucky to have a ride.
KYLE SHANAHAN stated that the NFL needed more Black coaches in the NFL, then signs a long term contact blocking a black coach from getting a job. Talk the talk but won’t walk the walk.
