SANTA FE, N.M. — A 16-year-old girl was killed and two other teenagers were injured in a shooting late Monday near the entrance to Storrie Lake State Park north of Las Vegas, New Mexico.
According to New Mexico State Police, Adelina Tafoya of Las Vegas died as a result of gunshot wounds she sustained. Another 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy also suffered injuries in the incident.
NMSP said that officers responded to a report of a shooting about 11:44 p.m. Monday near mile marker 4 on N.M. 518 close to the entrance to Storrie Lake State Park.
The three victims were each transported to Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, where Tafoya died from her injuries. The other two victims were being treated for their wounds, but their condition was not reported.
