SANTA FE — Testing confirmed 227 new cases of the coronavirus in New Mexico, state health officials said Tuesday, and three more people died of the disease.
The number of new cases is a bit below the daily average of 253 positive tests for a recent five-day period.
The three deaths push New Mexico’s statewide death toll to 551 residents.
They include two adults in their 30s and one in his 90s, all with underlying medical conditions of some kind.
The number of hospitalizations remained almost flat — at 171 patients in hospitals Tuesday, one fewer than the day before.
Bernalillo County — the state’s most-populous county — led New Mexico with 65 new infections Tuesday, followed by 49 cases in Doña Ana County.
