8:25am UPDATE: Albuquerque police say the male pedestrian who was killed this morning on Coors north of Paseo was crossing the road from east to west and was not using a designated pedestrian crosswalk, Officer Tasia Martinez said in an emailed update.
The driver told police that it was dark and he didn’t see the pedestrian in the roadway, Martinez said.
Police have detained the driver who was being investigated for possibly driving while intoxicated, according to the APD.
Names of the victim and the driver still haven’t been released.
6:35am UPDATE: The pedestrian who was fatally struck this morning on northbound Coors north of Paseo is a male whose name and age are still unknown, Albuquerque police Officer Danny Padilla Jr. said. An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
6:23am UPDATE: Police dispatchers are reporting that the pedestrian struck on northbound Coors north of Paseo del Norte has died.
Meanwhile, another accident in the area has all but the right-hand lane on northbound Coors open to traffic, traffic reporter Kiki Garcia is reporting on KOB-TV.
