ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The 2020 recipients of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center’s Bob Chavez Scholarship for the Arts are Isabel Otero of Isleta Pueblo and Christian Vicenti of Zuni Pueblo.
Each has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship per semester to help offset costs of higher education, including books, housing, tuition and supplies.
This scholarship honors Manuel “Bob” Chavez of Cochiti Pueblo, who dedicated 50 years as a volunteer teaching art at St. Catherine’s Indian School in Santa Fe, organizers said in a news release.
Otero is a graduate of the Santa Fe Indian School who plans to enroll in the Studio Arts Program at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe in fall 2020, according to the release.
Vicenti is a recent graduate of La Cueva High School who plans to major in animation at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.
