Rescue crews pull man’s body from arroyo collection point

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Bernalillo County Fire Department pulled a man’s body from a North Valley reservoir late Friday night, hours after he and a friend were swept away in an arroyo.

BCFD officials say the body was recovered around 10:45 p.m. from the diversion collection point, near Fourth and Roy NW. The man’s identity has not been released.

Another man had been rescued from the Embudo Arroyo by residents earlier and told firefighters his friend had been swept away as well.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue spotted the body, floating face down, but were unable to recover the man “at multiple sites” along the arroyo.

Firefighters turned over recovery effort to BCFD, who pulled the man from the collection point.
