Sports Speak Up! On the governor and United, and the Duke City Marathon

OUR GOVERNOR continues to give preferential treatment to her ‘beloved’ New Mexico United. Remarkably, they are allowed to travel back and forth to COVID-19 hot spots El Paso and Phoenix with limited restrictions. Yet she wrote a letter to NCAA President Mark Emmert with her opinions on regulating fall sports. Possibly padding her resume for a cabinet position in a potential Joe Biden presidential administration, the money-maker UNM football is the pawn here. Step up, UNM Regents. If the rest of the 12 member Mountain West Conference is playing football, the Lobos can’t be the odd team out.

I WAS DISAPPOINTED but not surprised to read that the Duke City Marathon has been postponed until March. But I was relieved that they will have two events next year. It gives me hope that things will improve and may return to somewhat normal at some time in the future. Thanks DCM for giving us something to look forward to during these trying times.

AGGIE NATION remains in mourning on the passing of Lou Henson. We realize the ABQ media interviewed Paul Weir for the local angle, but it was so wrong. … Aggie Nation revered Lou for all his accomplishments and loyalty. Aggie Nation detests Weir for being the opposite.
