New COVID-19 cases continue to plunge

New Mexico reported 113 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday as the state continued a downward trend.

The Department of Health also reported that three more people have died due to complications from coronavirus, all of whom had underlying conditions. They are:

⋄ A woman in her 80s from Bernalillo County.

⋄ A woman in her 70s from Lea County.

⋄ A man in his 20s from McKinley County who was hospitalized.

The total number of deaths in the state has reached 714.

Bernalillo County again led the state with 22 new cases. Lea County reported 19 new cases Sunday for a total of 922. Doña Ana County added 12 cases Sunday, Chaves County reported 11 and Santa Fe County reported 10.

McKinley County, which at one time led the state in cases but is now second behind Bernalillo County, only reported two additional cases Sunday. San Juan County, which has also been rocked by the disease, reported nine new cases.

There are now a total of 23,408 recorded cases across the state, with 10,391 designated as having recovered. The number of people hospitalized in New Mexico is now 109.
